Simple Path Covers in Graphs

چکیده
A simple path cover of a graph G is a collection ψ of paths in G such that every edge of G is in exactly one path in ψ and any two paths in ψ have at most one vertex in common. More generally, for any integer k ≥ 1, a Smarandache path k-cover of a graph G is a collection ψ of paths in G such that each edge of G is in at least one path of ψ and two paths of ψ have at most k vertices in common. Thus if k = 1 and every edge of G is in exactly one path in ψ, then a Smarandache path k-cover of G is a simple path cover of G. The minimum cardinality of a simple path cover of G is called the simple path covering number of G and is denoted by πs(G). In this paper we initiate a study of this parameter.

The 1-fixed-endpoint Path Cover Problem is Polynomial on Interval Graph
We consider a variant of the path cover problem, namely, the k-fixed-endpoint path cover problem, or kPC for short, on interval graphs. Given a graph G and a subset T of k vertices of V (G), a k-fixed-endpoint path cover of G with respect to T is a set of vertex-disjoint paths P that covers the vertices of G such that the k vertices of T are all endpoints of the paths in P . The kPC problem is ...
متن کاملPowers of Hamiltonian paths in interval graphs
We give a simple proof that the obvious necessary conditions for a graph to contain the kth power of a Hamiltonian path are sufficient for the class of interval graphs. The proof is based on showing that a greedy algorithm tests for the existence of Hamiltonian path powers in interval graphs. We will also discuss covers by powers of paths and analogues of the Hamiltonian completion number. c © ...
متن کاملA Linear-Time Algorithm for the Terminal Path Cover Problem in Block Graphs
In this paper, we study a variant of the path cover problem, namely, the terminal path cover problem. Given a graph G and a subset T of vertices of G, a terminal path cover of G with respect to T is a set of pairwise vertex-disjoint paths PC that covers the vertices of G such that the vertices of T are all endpoints of the paths in PC. The terminal path cover problem is to find a terminal path ...
متن کاملAnti-forcing number of some specific graphs
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a simple connected graph. A perfect matching (or Kekul'e structure in chemical literature) of $G$ is a set of disjoint edges which covers all vertices of $G$. The anti-forcing number of $G$ is the smallest number of edges such that the remaining graph obtained by deleting these edges has a unique perfect matching and is denoted by $af(G)$. In this paper we consider some specifi...
متن کاملLow - exponential Algorithm for Counting the Number of Edge Cover on Simple Graphs
A procedure for counting edge covers of simple graphs is presented. The procedure splits simple graphs into non-intersecting cycle graphs. This is the first “low exponential” exact algorithm to count edge covers for simple graphs whose upper bound in the worst case is O(1.465575 × (m + n)), where m and n are the number of edges and nodes of the input graph, respectively.
